Professor Maurice Boland joined Alltech as research director in 2013. Previously, he was director of the University College Dublin-Teagasc Partnership and held various senior management roles in the College of Life Sciences and in the School of Agriculture and Food Science, including dean and vice president, at University College Dublin (UCD). He was an elected member of the UCD Governing Authority and the UCD Finance Committee. He supervised over 40 master's degree and 27 Ph.D. students to completion. His research interests included embryo production (in vivo and in vitro) and the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy in farm animals, with a particular emphasis on dairy cattle. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals and has served on several international committees, including as president of the International Embryo Transfer Society and as chair of the panel to select the winner of the World Agriculture Prize.
