Alex Tsappis

U.S. Aquaculture Business Manager, Alltech

Alex Tsappis graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science. In 2012, he received his master's degree in business administration, and in 2018, he completed the Alltech Executive Management Program in collaboration with the University College Dublin Smurfit Business school.

Tsappis spent 12 years in the field of animal feed manufacturing in Cyprus, where he dealt primarily with the production of feeds for livestock, poultry, pets and aqua. He then moved to quality control and the purchasing of raw material. From 2004 to 2012, Tsappis focused on dairy and dairy management systems while also working on nutrition in the pet and aqua industries.

In August of 2012, Tsappis joined Alltech to assist with the production and application of algae to nutritional products for all species. Upon its commission in 2013, Tsappis began running the company's new extrusion pilot facility in Winchester, Kentucky, focusing on aquatic diets and new product development. In 2018, he became the U.S. aquaculture business manager for Alltech, helping to develop and grow the aqua sector in North America. Today, Alltech is able to fully support its North American aquaculture customers through partner feeds or feeds supplied directly to customers through Ridley and Hubbard.
