Managing Director, VitaVitae
Desmond Sheehy is the managing director of VitaVitae. He has spent the last 30 years working with people, companies and projects in Asia, Europe and the U.S. that are dedicated to sustainably improving the world for the people who live on it, both now and in the future.
Sheehy is committed to mentoring and helping founders and companies develop so that they can better tackle the next stages of their journeys. Before he began serving in his current role in 2018, he worked as a senior investment officer at IFC–World Bank Group; as managing director at Deutsche Asset Management; and as founder and CIO at Duxton Asset Management. He has raised, invested and managed more than $800 million for multiple funds and mandates, in addition to providing them with advisory services, and has led teams that have made investments and structured funds in Argentina, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Sheehy is active in a number of organizations, including The Singapore Ireland Funds, a charity that is affiliated with the global Ireland Funds, which he helped establish in 2008. He is also a coach and leader of Valkyries Girls Rugby, which has played a role in girls’ rugby becoming popular in Singapore. Sheehy is a mentor, judge and entrepreneur-in-residence at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, helping current and former students identify and reach their goals. He is also an active participant in the Young Presidents’ Organization, where he helps organize and chair a number of learning events.
Sheehy received bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from University College Cork in Ireland and a master’s degree in business administration from INSEAD. He has also attended many other programs at prestigious universities around the world.
