Equine Nutritionist, Performance Horse Nutrition
Dr. Tania A. Cubitt is a nutrition consultant for Performance Horse Nutrition (PHN), an international equine nutrition consulting company. PHN works with horse owners, veterinarians and feed manufacturers around the world to design feeding programs, solve feed-related issues and formulate feeds that complement local forages. PHN was the official nutrition partner of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010.
Dr. Cubitt is a native of Queensland, Australia. She received a bachelor's degree in animal science from the University of Queensland. She received a master's degree in science with a focus on equine nutrition and growth from Virginia Tech, where her research focused on how environment can influence hormonal and growth characteristics in Thoroughbred fillies. She also received a doctoral degree from Virginia Tech in equine nutrition and reproduction with a focus on the effects of nutrition on ovarian function.
Dr. Cubitt's research interests are focused on developing feeding strategies for horses with special needs, including senior horses and horses with metabolic syndrome, developmental orthopedic disease and gastric ulcers, as well as feeding the broodmare.
