Gerry Duffy is a stud manager for Godolphin, the Thoroughbred breeding and racing operation owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai. Leading a team of 40 employees, Duffy is responsible for the day-to-day running of two divisions of Godolphin in central Kentucky.
He graduated as a mechanical engineer from Trinity College Dublin but has always been drawn to his passion for Thoroughbred racing. In addition to his undergraduate degree in engineering, he also completed his MBA at the University of Kentucky. Duffy was privileged to be accepted to Godolphin’s Flying Start program, a two-year scholarship with the mission to cultivate future industry leaders.
He has served a variety of roles within Godolphin, including a recent four-year term as its Irish general manager. He has also served on the boards of numerous industry bodies, including Weatherbys (Europe’s equivalent of the Jockey Club), Irish Thoroughbred Marketing and Thoroughbred breeders associations in Ireland and the U.S.
