Senior Advisor for Innovation, Grow Asia
Paul Voutier is the senior advisor for innovation at Grow Asia, a multi-stakeholder partnership platform that catalyzes action on inclusive agricultural development in southeast Asia.
Grow Asia was established by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat. In his current role there, Voutier supports the innovation lead in building a community of practice that brings together leaders in business, government and NGOs who share a commitment to using new innovations to make smallholder value chains more productive and sustainable. Digitization is a core element of the program, as it will impact every aspect of farming, from advanced technology that can help grow more resilient crops to mobile financing solutions that can help smallholder farmers access credit.
In addition to his other responsibilities, Voutier delivers webinars and reports and speaks at open innovation events and networking events. Prior to serving in his current advisory role, Voutier was the director of knowledge and innovation at Grow Asia and led the institution’s digital program for three years. He also has significant experience in building smallholder supply chains in the cocoa, citrus, cassava and rubber industries.
Before joining Grow Asia, Voutier worked in agri-businesses at companies including Mondelez International, Olam, Syngenta, Heineken and Ironbark Citrus. In 2012, he co-authored the landmark “Business in Development” study, which established a body of evidence characterizing the nature of the core business activities undertaken by multinationals that contribute to the alleviation of poverty.
