U.S. Swine Business Leader, Alltech
Russell Gilliam is the U.S. swine business leader at Alltech. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s sales, marketing and research interests in the pork industry. His main area of interest is lowering the cost of production for swine production systems.
Before joining Alltech, Gilliam was an assistant beef herdsman and, later, an assistant swine herdsman at Ames Plantation. His responsibilities in those roles included increasing reproductive efficiency and reducing pre-wean mortality in Ames’ swine research herd.
Gilliam joined Alltech in 2000 as a territory sales manager in Iowa and Illinois, with a focus on the swine market. In 2004, he was promoted to regional sales manager in Ohio and Michigan, and in 2009, he was named regional sales manager of the northeastern United States and New England.
Gilliam received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee.
