Dr. Gregory Jicha, M.D., Ph.D.

University of Kentucky

Dr. Gregory Jicha is a professor in the Department of Neurology and the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky (UK). Jicha serves as associate center director and leads the clinical core of the NIA-funded UK Alzheimer’s Disease Center. He also serves as medical director of Kentucky TeleCare and directs the Telemedicine Cognition Clinic at UK, which is designed to reach out to rural populations across the state for both clinical and research-related activities in the area of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

Jicha holds the Robert T. and Nyles Y. McCowan Endowed Chair in Alzheimer’s Research at UK. He is the principal investigator at UK for the national Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study group and also serves on the clinical task force and steering committee for the National Institute on Aging Alzheimer’s Disease Center program. He has also been elected as chair of the Geriatric Section of the American Academy of Neurology.

Jicha's current research interests lie in the areas of pre-clinical disease states, mild cognitive impairment, vascular contributions to dementia and clinical trials of disease-modifying therapies for degenerative dementias. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as part of the National Institutes of Health-funded Medical Scientist Training Program and completed his internship, neurology residency and behavioral neurology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
